Holidays in Bodrum

The popular resort of Bodrum, called Halicarnassus in ancient times, is the South Aegean's most attractive resort, described by Homer as 'The land of eternal blue'. The hillside is covered in painted villas adorned with bougainvillea. Narrow streets wind their way down to the sea, and the peaceful setting of its twin harbours offer shelter for yachts. Bodrum is a mustering point for local boats offering tailor-made daytrips to nearby islands or the pristine beaches and seaside restaurants along the magnificent coastline. From its position between the two harbours, the 15th-century crusader Castle of St Peter dominates every part of the town, now home to the fascinating Museum of Underwater Archaeology.

When to go

The main resorts throughout the Aegean Coast of Turkey are open from April till the end of October. Temperatures average in the mid 20's Celsius during the early and late months of the season but can rise to the low 30's during the summer peak season. A few hotels in Bodrum remain open throughout the year.

Aquapark Dedeman Bodrum offers many different things to do for its guests in addition to pools, rivers and water slides, including; restaurant, bar, night club, and salto jumping. You can book trips via your hotel but it's cheaper to jump in a taxi and pay at the gate. Prices vary depending on the time of year and range between £6 & £10 per person.

Boat trips. From the main harbour in Bodrum you can hire a boat for a day or two or just book one of the many boat trips that take you around the beautiful coast. You can even jump on a ferry and visit the nearby Greek island of Kos or jump on a Hydrofoil and be in Rhodes within two hours. Details of boat are available from most hotels.
